The info on system is bogus, but didn't know what to put!)
My son compiled a 'new' PC for me with parts from his machine before being shipped overseas. He included 2 CD'burners' and gave me the 'documentation. I put my Pacific Digital software on to use. I thought we checked it out before he left. But now I just tried (MANY times) to use it and it says there is 'no supported CD-R drive detected.' In looking at the 'documentation' there is a book and a number on the pkg but nothing else. (grrrr). Any suggestions? [It is a cendyne and they won't help.... and the messages concerning them are disheartening!]

Can you see the CD drives in the BIOS? If so, are drive letters being assigned? Are you getting the error when you attempt to burn files to a CD?

By BIOS, do you mean the 'folder?' Lists CD on both D and E (and they function fine as regular CD drives). The message I get upon opening the burn program, and when I try to 'burn'is "no supported CD-R or CD-RW drive detected.'

By BIOS, I mean BIOS. Since the drives have drive letters assigned to them, then the answer to the first two questions is yes. First, are you sure that they are writable drives and not just cd roms? What software are you using to burn the cds?

John said they were burners. Cendyne booklet says at least one is - only one book and nothing else. I have a Pacific Digital burner on mine (we were doing this one for my daughter) and installed it. "no supported drive detected".

The "Pacific Digital" software might be an OEM version of burner software that only supports their drives. Or if it is NERO, it might be an older version that does not recognize the newer CD-RW drives. If NERO, determine which version you have and go to their web (NERO.com) and look for a fix download for that version.

The burner software has to recognize the drive and load parameters for it. So it is either a single OEM vendor (Pacific Digital) version, or an old version that does not recognize newer drives. The NERO site will have you register and try to sell you the newest version of their burner software first, but look for a free update for the version you have.
