Can I enable it? I have problems installing Office (ANY VERSION!) the installation either won't run saying: Installation was not completed (which sounds pretty stupid, considering it didn't even start)" or "This installation package could not be opened. Please turn to the manufacturer of this application and check if this is a valid Windows Installer package" or something like that anyway. I thought It'd work if I ran the computer in safe mode, but there is no CD-ROM support in that mode. Can I enable it? Thanks in advance!

is it a legit version of office xp? if its not then the people who burned it may have had erros in the disc.
is it not installing at all, or taking a long time for the cd to access it. when i here makes sure its valid, that sends a red flag of being burned wrong. manually browse the cd and try to launch setup.
also, office xp WILL NOT run or windows 98/me. so that may be the problem as well.

You could try copying the Office CD contents to a folder on the hard drive first (In normal mode) then running the setup in safe mode from that folder.
Good luck

Yes THEY are legit versions of offices. I have 97 and my friends loaned me 2000 and XP. 97 is an upgrade edition, so I have to install works or an earlier office first, but none of both will install!

Actually, Office XP works perfectly on Windows ME. Just because it's called Office XP doesn't mean it only works on Windows XP.
At what point of the installation does it fail? Is it when you run Setup, or when the installation program is doing something?
Is the CD scratched, damaged, or dirty?
Try uninstalling any previous version of Office (although, when I installed mine, it asked if it should overwrite the old version) and try installing again.
