cdrom games dont work on me

Cant play games on me. games start up ok then vanish and return to desktop.Tried all kinds of patches and downloaded new drivers direct8x etc... nothing seems to work. Kids are throwing tantrums. Never had any problems with windows95

New computer. High spec.Phoned loads of software support lines tried all they said and now they are clueless.Feel like chucking this new "better" computer out the window

I have experienced the same problems and frustration. I installed Direct8X and FOR SOME REASON, I can play newer games Battle for Naboo, Force Commander, but I cannot play the older games such as Jedi Knight. I don't buy the response about the quote/unquote "You Must Have a REALLY OLD SYSTEM." Maybe I do, but if it worked before, it should work now. What is the problem?
