Comment:

Last month my system was working fine until I had a major crash. I had to reformat my hard drive and did a clean install with windows me. Now every time I turn on my system my cdrom and cd-rw are not identified when the system boots. Sometimes it is identified and sometimes it is not. When I go to Device Manager it shows !Secondary Bus Master IDE controller (dual fifo) and under
that is says Via Bus Master PCI IDE controller. When I delete these to reinstall the drivers sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The drives that show up to choose from are as follows: Windows\INF\VIASD.INF 3/26/2001
Windows\INF\MSHDC.INC 6/8/2000
either one of these work but not for very long.

Recommend going to VIA_4in1_Drivers and getting the current system board VIA Tech drivers for your system. Might just solve your problem.
