Hello all,
I have a CD burner that I recently put in my older computer, but doesnt work. All the jumper settings are correct. Here is a description of whats wrong:
1. System detects it and installed Windows drivers, but the drive can not read any cds in the drive.
2. Can't burn cds, becuase I cant install the software (came on a cd! grr)
My drive is an Iomega Zip CD 650MB ATAPI. It is setup as the secondary primary ATAPI device.
Is my drive bad? It has been used in a previous computer, and worked until we upgraded it from Windows Me to Windows XP Home SP2.
Thanks to anybody that responds,
Brandon.

Yes, it says that it works fine (this is obviously not the case). Here what it says:
IOMEGA ZIPCD 4x650
Device type: CDROM
Manufactuer: (standard cd-rom device)
Hardware version: not availibleDriver:
Driver provider: Microsoft
Driver date: 06/08/2000
Digital signer: Microsoft Consumer Windows Publisher
It says: No drivers are required or have been loaded for this device. To update the driver files for this device, click Update Driver.

go to iomega website and check for new drivers and firmware updates, download and install them.If that does'nt work then the drive maybe dodgy. It sounds quite an old drive now,so delve into your pockets and buy a new one, they are only about £18 from ebuyer.good luck

I have found the correct firmware update, but when I try to run the program it says no supported drive found. I will try WindowsUpdate and if that doesn't work it's most likley busted, right?
