When I try to access my CD Rom drive I get a message saying:
Please insert a disk into drive E
It doesn't matter what CD I put in, it does not recognize that a CD is in the drive. This started happening today right out of the blue with no warning.

could try system restore to when it was working, start-programs-accessories-system tools-system restore
if it is of no help you can undo the restore
same path but choose undo last restore.
