Hi, im not sure why, but the cdrom is no longer present on my system devices.
also, there is a yellow exclamation mark next to my floppy drive and the primary and secondary IDE controller..

i have tried removing all of these from the device manager and reinstalling, but once i have reinstalled the exclamation marks are still there, and there is still no cd rom drive.

i also tried to install the cdrom driver again, but this error appeared -

ASPI Library(wnaspi32.dll) Loading failed.

any help greatly appreciated

thanks

boot into safe mode...go to device manager & remove ALL listings for your CD-ROMs, then reboot

boot back into safe mode again, go back into device manager, & look at every entry on the list. If you find any duplicates, remove ALL entries for that device. For example, click on the + next to Disk drives...if "floppy disk" is listed more than once, remove ALL entries, don't leave one behind because on the reboot, another will be reinstalled & you'll have 2 entries again. Do the same for Display Adapters, Floppy disk controllers, etc

Reinstall your motherboard chipset drivers. Make sure you're using the right ones....

Just to add...it doen't help that you haven't listed the make/model of your PC or the motherboard make/model or the chipset the board is based on.

its a hp pavilion 8760, intel 82810E. Im not sure what to look at for mother board specs.

is its safe to remove all the system devices in the device manager?

also, when i try to remove the ide controllers, it says i cant remove the secondary and primary controllers because they are not the parent entry.
when i remove the parent, the primary and secondary ide's arent removed with it..

thanks
