Cd rom drive disabled

When I tried to install external CD writer on my toshiba laptop, it disabled the CD ROM drive and now I am not able to use the CD ROM drive. Could anyone suggest how I can enable the CD rom drive to start functioning. thanks

Pls try to install your CDROM-drivers. I think your CDROM is external CD, Nomally Windows is auto check new devcies.

hello go look in device manager and look for yellow ! or ? or red x,s and look to see if any of these have to do with i/o irq ,s and try to reasigh them to unused ones. if device manager wont let you try from bios. allso do what sujested above first.
