cd rom not working properly, installed the ECDL cd rom but nothing happened also had a problem with the Harry Potter cd rom game and cd rom game rayman 2 was same problem. Can any one tell me what is wrong with my PC. Thank you.

Also, was your ME installation a clean instal, OEM or an upgrade. Did you download anything from the web or install a new program recently? Have you tried system restore? Had you up to date anti-virus protection? Were you regularly using defrag and scandisk? Is your hard disk full (there should be at least 50Mb to spare for Windows to run at all and preferably much more)? If you don’t know how to provide your system specifications, it means basically what kind of processor you have, such as Intel Pentium III 800 Mhz, what kind of graphics card (video adapter) such as Creative Geforce 3 Titanium 500, what kind of sound card, such as Creative Soundblaster PCI 128, what size of hard disk. Etc. You can find out this information by running Start, programs, accessories, system tools, system information, or by right clicking on My Computer, going to properties, device manager and having a look at the expanded + signs for details. For each device, select the properties button at the bottom of the box to get more detail. You will also learn a lot about how to navigate your system. Hope this helps us to help you. :)

Just a quick question on WindowsME. I've been running it for almost two years now and in the past year my CD-ROM drives recognizes all CD-ROM's regardless of contents as WindowsMediaPlayers file. Even if there are separate files on the CD in both the desktop navigator and the windows explorer the files comes up as a WindowsMediaPlayer File. I've tried restoring its oldest back up state but that does not work. I've tried reinstalling/installing device drivers. Even tried deleting and reinstalling the CD-ROM drive. I think its a problem with the Dell Inspiron it came on. Any ideas?? Also everytime I put a CD in the Media Player pops up. Disable CD-settings in Media Player as well.
