I have a HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8160B burner, Have had it about 1 year now, reads cd's fine but won't record, when I look at the cd after the burn process it looks like all the data was burned at the beginning of the cd. When I go into my local d drive with it there is nothing on it. Is this a dirt problem or is it burned out. I have burned about 300 disc's with it. I am using roxio's cd creator platinum and have un installed and reinstalled the software several times and still the same thing. Tried using nero and it seemed to burn it across the disc but still reads as no info when I insert it to the d drive. Is it screwed? thx adrian

When you burn with Nero or Roxio, theres an option to verify, if this comes back as negative, then your laser is most likely on its way out, or covered with dust.
