CD Audio - No Sound

I recently installed a CD/RW on my PC. My Hard drive is set as the primary master with my CD player set as secondary master and my CD/RW set as secondary slave. I have a soundblaster live platinum sound card. Although sound affects work in games and such and I can play MP3, MPEG and AVI files. When I try to play an audio CD through either drive there is no sound at all. My CD player is connected to the audio and digital output of the soundcard and I have tried using headhones plugged directly into the CD players and have tried the volume dial on both CD players as well as on the Soundblaster mixer software. I've tried everything I know. Has anyone got any ideas that I may have overlooked?

The connection to the soundcard is one thing, but if you plug headphones right into the front of the drive you should always be able to listen to a CD. In fact if the drive has a play button on the front to start the disc you don't even need a PC to listen to an audio CD, just power to the drive. Are you playing normal audio CDs?

Right click on MY COMPUTER PROPERTIES or if you know how to get to your SYSTEM PROPERTIES, click on the DEVICE MANASGER tab..... click the + sign on the left of CD ROMS then right click on the appropriate cd rom drive, then check the box for "Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device" then click apply then ok.....you may or may not have to allow a restart but i would anyway. see if this helps
