Can't update Windows ME, Why?

I formatted my hard drive over the weekend and re-installed Windows ME. When I go to download the updates from microsoft website, it begins to download updates and then abruptly stops and states there was a failure to download the updates. I have tried multiple times with same result. I unplugged my cable modem thinking a different IP address might work, but same respose. Please help me troubleshoot. Thanks in advance.

It might be the web site. Try downloading something else and see if that works.

I don't have an answer for you, but I can tell you I experienced the exact same thing this past weekend. I tried updating just one thing, but I kept getting an error message that gave a list of all the files that were not loaded successfuly. I kept trying the update from the beginning, but no luck. I finally went to my C:\windows\windows update setup file, and deleted the ie6setup.exe (the file I was trying to download). I tried the update again and it finally worked, although the download itself took almost an hour. I would think it was just the Microsoft website. Try again.

wawa is correct guys
The so called micro*&^% sight was having massive probs for the last few days.
Even some of the XP updates were having massive issues downloading. The local tech office wouldnt comment much when I called them, ( gee how unusual of MS ( NOT ) ) which sugest they have problems.
