Comment:

After major problems with explorer error messages and computer not starting up and ME boot disks coming up as invalid system disks, I can now boot from a windows 98 CD. I can get to dos that way & have tried
booting to CDRom without CD support, but when I get in to dos, the only commands it accepts are dir (all 3 drives) & copy. Everything else - sys, restore, even format just comes up with bad command or file name.
Any ideas what I should do next? By the way, system restore is turned off in windows due to major probs we were having with it.
thanks

Kaz

Try the following commands:

C:
Path=C:\;C:\windows;c:\windows\command

After entering the above, you will be logged into the C: drive, and any command you enter will be looked for in the 3 directories of the path. The DOS commands are in \command.

DIR and COPY are part of command.com
