Subject: Can't run/uninstall NortonAntivirus
OS: Windows ME
CPU/Ram: 256
Comment:

I recently uninstalled Windows XP as some of my programs wouldn't run and am back to Windows ME. Since uninstallation of XP I cannotr run on uninstall Norton Antivirus 2000. When I try to run Norton, I get the message:

An unhandled exception has occurred.
The error was Unknown

When I try to uninstall it I get the message:

Unable to locate the installation log file
C:\Program Files\Norton Antivirus\nav95.isu
Uninstallation will not continue

Can anyone help please? What will happen if I delete the files in the Norton Antivirus folder?

You cannot just delete the files in the NAV folder - you'll just get loads more errors as the system starts to look for them. Use a program on the Symantec website 'Rnav2003.exe' - used for uninstalling when Add/Remove fails. Cut & paste this link.

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2001092114452606?Open&src=bar_sch_nam&docid=2001045512474266&nsf=nav.nsf&view=5e4b89cb6688213985256ee60054a6ba&dtype=&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_lvl=

Incidentally, I assume you upgraded an ME installation to XP and then just removed XP using Add/Remove. In my experience you will have a lot more problems like this as reverting to a previous OS is never a clean operation. You would be better off formatting your drive & re-installing ME from scratch.
