Installed WinMe in my new puter (Intel celeron 500, 120MB RAM, 10GB HD). Tried connecting 2 printers - Canon BJC-210SP and Canon BJC-70, and have installed and reinstalled printer drivers. I get the same error message every time I try to print - saying "the printer is out of paper" when it isn't. Same printers, cables, power cords, paper all working fine when I connect them to my daughter's old puter. I can't print anything incl. test page on either printer on new puter as I can't get past "out of paper" message. Same message when I followed troubleshooting tip and tried to print from DOS. Any ideas please???

I am having a similar problem in that my printer starts printing OK but by the 4-5 line slows down almost to a crawl. I've also re-installed my printer drivers, checked HD for any errors, defragmented my HD, checked and changed the printer spool setting from
"Spool programs ..." to "Print directly to printer" to no avail. I am using Epson Stylus Photo 400.

Sounds as though the printer drivers are wrong. The drivers determine which codes are sent to the printer and if there is a mismatch unpredicatable things will happen.
Even if the drivers were on the Me CD they could be wrong.
Suggest you try the manufacturer's web site for the latest Me-compatible drivers - if they are available (ME has not been officially released yet).
Hope it works out OK!

I have had the same problem trying to get my computer to print while on preinstalled Win ME OS. Printer manufacturer (Epson) advises me that Microsoft has not released the required driver information to them and that there may be a wait of up to 2 months for such information to be released. Meanwhile the backlog builds up !! What gives, Microsoft ???

I have an Epson Stylus Color 500...
Diddo
And I have a long sad tale about the lack of support from microsoft. I all started on.........

I have a HP 820cse and not able to run with WinMe, it doesn't support this printer. I uninstalled WinMe and looking for fix or a Microsoft refund.

I have an HP 712c printer, and due to a ME installation, my perfectly fine printer is sidelined because of microsoft...what a waste.

Ditto..have a BJC-210 and can't print. Installed the newest driver, changed cables per Canon tech support..still can't print.Checkd WinME sites and they say no up date out as of yet...
Could be new printer time!

This is ridiculous!! How come it takes such a long time to get a driver for Epson stylus 400 compatible to ME?? Meanwhile my printer is just sitting there without being used and I get frustrated....arg.....shame on you Microsoft! I really need to use my printer.

i have a celeron 500, 128mb ram.. winme.. then the bjc210
i was printing in the beta versions perfectly well, and then my cartridge ran out, when i hooked the printer back up and put in the new cartridge, i had already upgraded to the full release of winme, and the thing beeps once when it goes to print, and does nothing more. the printer tests (hardware ones) print fine.
bloody bill gates. cares about his precious $$$ and not enough about the s--- that gets written

I just performed a clean install of WinME and am also having problems with my printers. I have a Lexmark 2050 Color InkJet Printer and an HP DeskJet 420C printer. Neither one works with WinME. I have installed, uninstalled and install the printers and their drivers three times each to no avail. I am using the most up-to-date drivers from the manufacturers. When I try to print a test page on the HP 420C it just keeps saying "Out of Paper" when there is plenty of paper. When I try to print a test page from the Lexmark 2050 it keeps saying the "Printer is Off-line" and it can't communicate with the printer. All the cables are attached properly. So, what to do? Should I wait 2-3 months and see if Microsoft or the manufacturers come out with compatible drivers or just get a new printer?
The weird thing is that the HP 420C actually works just fine with Win2000!!! Why not with WinME??? Also, the manufacturers' websites supposedly have the WinME drivers, but they don't work. Why not???

I have an Epson 740, and I installed Windows ME when it was first released.I reinstalled ME twice and tried even installing my printer on other computers, all to no avail.
I have the latest driver, and since the problem is at the source,I'm back using 98SE.

I have a epson color 600 and WinMe adds the printer and acts as though it's printing, but nothing happens on the printer. I've done two clean reloads of WinMe to no prevail. I can hook the printer to my laptop (WinNT) and it works fine. Any suggestions?

I also have an epson color 600 and WinMe and I'm also having a tough time getting the printer to work.
Here is what I have done so far:
- I went into the system bios and made sure the Parallel Port was set to ECP/EPP and has the DMA set to 3.
Result: I no longer get an error message that there is an LPT, bad cable, or no printer error.
- I downloaded the Epson driver for win98. (Epson says it is suppose to work).
Result: The printer keeps on showing that it is offline.
- I went to the Epson Spool Manager and changed the option of "Use Print Manager For This Port" to true.
Result: The printer can now print but...
All I get is garbage text.
Can anybody figure out why I'm getting garbage text instead of what I want to print???Any suggestions???
Thanks in advance

Just got Windows ME and my HP DeskJet 540 won't run properly. Have reinstalled driver 6.1 again, but no luck. How do I get new drivers for the DeskJet 540 that is compatible with Windows ME????? Have been to a half dozen web sites with ZERO results!!

It's not working with my NEC SuperScript 860 either. At least I'm glad to know that "I" am not the problem. I have an e-mail in to NEC.
