Problem: I cannot access exes installed. not even the regedit. I can however open instanses from the saved copies of their docs.eg I cannot open notepad directly i.e. from the paths but I can open it from a previously saved notepad file. Same goes for doc, pdf files. I cannot open any component in control panel . Nor can I Install any new program. My Config: 20 gb Hdd : 2 partitions : C: Win Me D: Win200 128 mb ram P II 400 I did fiddle and delete some files in the c:\ windows\ however while updating my Norton 2000 I found W32.Sircam worm@ in my sys. which was later removed by Nort2002. Win200 partition is working fine absolutely . Win me Restore was disabled . RecyBin emptied regulary.a disk rescue was run from win 2000 part. to recover some files Please suggest : 1 is the problem due to the worm , deletion of files in windows or both . 2. A remedy to access control panel , registry and run exes without reinstalling Me. Help appreciated Ps: Iam accessing the net from the same sys and Win Me part IE 6 is running fine
