Help! Does anyone know what file in ME lets windows do things like directly open exe's (not documents) and programs like 'add remove progams'?? Need now!!
If you would like to know how this happened read on...I rencently installed and used a program called Bullguard on the computer I use (it isn't actually mine.) During the install it prompts to perform an initial scan before it finishes installing and registering. Live tech support on bullguard.com confirmed my suspisions that this initial scan does not generate a log file. In this initial scan bullguard found several viruses on the computer. I've never had a virus before so I didn't realize that bullguard differentiated between 'delete' and 'disinfect', especially as there was no disinfect option which tech support explained meant that bullguard couln't clean it. It didn't say this when i had the 'delete' option. Apparently one of the windows files it deleted was on that controlled windows' ability to open exe's without having a file point to them. I think it was called umsmgr.dll or something. I don't remember if it was a dll or not. I don't know what version of ME exactly i'm running cuz i can't open the system panel and check! This isn't my comptuer and if I don't fix this i'm f---ed. Help would be much appreciated.

Download and run EXEFIX08 from http://home.earthlink.net/~rmbox/Reticulated/Toys.html
It will correct the registry entry
Then do an online run as a second check for viruses.
