I am using comcast as ISP. I have a pc hooked up to a d-link modem DCM-202 and linksys router WRT54G. The pc is not wireless and works fine. I have a dell inspiron 4000, with Win ME. I have installed a wireless network card (linksys WPC54G). I can access the access point but not the internet. I can't ping the router from the wireless laptop.

A few quick thoughts: Can you access the setup page for both access point & router? I guess you can get to the AP but not the router. What IP addresses are you using for the router & the access point? Are you sure you've set the IP address for the access point within the router's range? If you're using it, have you enabled WEP on both AP & network card?

Try and call comcast and see if they can ping the modem. They should be able to. Unlikely your modem is bad, but it's possible. I had this problem a while back and it turned out that my motherboard was bad. Or whatever it was that detects the ethernet card. I had to rehook it all up by using the USB cable. That worked good for me. Sorry I can't be of more help.
