Comment: Subject: Need Help with fixing my Windows ME - Minimizing the windows @ taskbar Hi, Friends:
I'm using Windows ME and recently I found that the 'windows' at/on the taskbar (located at the bottom of desktop) can only be maximized by clicking the tiny windows icons ONCE (on the taskbar) but cannot be minimized at all if clicked twice! - The clicking once for maximizing and activating the windows application on screen and clicking twice for minimizing/deactivating the windows application is the superb and very useful aspect of the windows OS, isn't it? I believe the above mentioned problem must be caused by some registry data change unknowingly and unexpectedly by installing/uninstalling some software lately (which happened to have changed my registry varibles or system files), so I post my inquiry here and I look forward to getting help from you! Please kindly show me how to update the registry data (Where + How) via regEdit or any other means! Thanks very much! regards, SUIKUI

Reply: (edit) I'm sorry however I have never herd of using this way to resize ,open and close a program ? You can set your mouse to work with one click instead of double clicking ,by changing the mouse settigs in control panel ! I have always opened a application either from the shortcut when one click on the start button on the taskbar ,or by a desktop icon ,to minimize or maximize the size of the display for the app you have opened I have always used the X in the box in the upper right hand corner ,if I click once on the listing of the open app in the taskbar in will clear the screen showing my desktop or another app running behind it, another single click on the app in the task bar will maximize it back to the size it was when I cleared it off the desktop ! Please correct me if Iam wrong ,Iam sure there are many wasys you can configure O/S to work the way you feel most comfortable ! Good Luck Nick

Reply: (edit)Of course if you have a program minimized to the task bar and then you click on it, it will indeed maximize. If you click again, then it will minimize. My guess is you changed the performance of the Taskbar somehow. Is that at all possible? If not, check the MSKB. You may find something there that will be useful. Soylent Green is PEOPLE!!!
