I can't get past the Windows ME splash screen. When I hit esc, I get this error message "Windows could not upgrade the file %1 from %2 %1: %2". This happened after I downloaded corrupt upgrades for my nvidia TNT Pro display drivers from the Windows ME update web page on 11/09/02.I can't even load windows in the safe mode. I get the same error message. Although I can access the drivers exe file from the command prompt, I can't run the executable in the DOS mode. Catch 22!! Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Do a site search and a Google search for that error message...there's plenty to read.

if you have access to dos just rename the driver files if you know which ones they are just something simple like a 1 after the name.
when the computer searches for them it wont find them and if your lucky will go into safe mode. it might just crash again but you wont be any worse off. once your in your in.
to rename in dos just type
rename filename.drv filename1.drv
obviosly putting in actual file name.
