Can't load IE 6

I have had to uninstall IE 6 becuase it was corrupt. I've tried to repair it but the system wouldn't let me. I've tried to reinstall it (as well as IE 5.5) but the instalations hang at 72% complete. I run Windows ME. AMD 950 processor 256 Ram
Are these installs on-line upgrades or installs done directly from CD-ROMs?
Try searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base, using the search "internet explorer 6 install"... There's a lot of information on those search results that might help you resolve this problem... Good luck...

What the problem most likely is is that IE doesn't know which version is running. Often times you can just install IE 5.5SP1, then IE 5.5SP2, and then finally IE6. If that doesn't work then you will very likely have to completely remove Internet Explorer. You can go here to find instruction on what files need to be modified in order to download and install IE 6. Perform all of the task that you find on this link then you need to download and install all in order: Internet explorer 5.5 SP1 Internet explorer 5.5 SP2 Internet explorer 6.0

Oh BTW of course you don't need to reinstall Windows so you can just forget about that part.
