Subject: Can't install Windows Update |
Comment: Hi... I'm running ME. The Windows Updates won't install properly... the install process gets stuck at about 8%. The update downloads fine from the website. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Reply: (edit)Hi Mike. Be sure to close your AV and firewall if running. But actually apart from that the download site has been a bit iffy for me here in the UK, bear with it. Take care.

Reply: (edit)Thanks, Col. I have done both those things in the past. Doesn't seem to work. My suspicion rises when i think that i can't even reinstall ME... that installation ALSO freezes up early. Are they connected?

Reply: (edit)My apologies if this sounds silly. But when i get my Windows Update, i'm connected to the website, and it seems like everything is done automatically. Sounds like there's a way to download the update to my computer, then run it at my leisure. True? If so, how do i do this? Or if the download is saved on my computer, where do i find it? And WAWADAVE: Thanks for the tips! Re: Adware, do you mean the compression utility? If so, why do i need that?
