I play Diablo II on two computers running WINME... Whatever Miro is trying to say, I am not sure. I wouldn't consider that very helpful. Maybe if you provided a more detailed list of the problems and what hardware you are using. Also, do you have troubles elsewhere? Is this a new computer or did you upgrade to ME. Okay that was a silly question, who upgrades to ME (Miro that was for you :) Anyway,, more details yields better techsupport!

I will check back on this post later!

I agree with Bashton, I have no problems running starcraft or Diablo II on my ME machine. Make sure all your hardware esp your video card are all running correctly. It is probably just something wrong with your computer settings, not a conflict with ME and the program

if you have your cd rom on dma mode
turn it off then restart, then install the game, after you install it, check the dma box to turn it back on,(it wont install if you have dma turned on)

You keep saying "won't install..." and yet, you provide no more information than that. It is as if you went to your doctor and said, "My arm won't work." The doctor asks you, "What won't work about it?" and all you say is, "It won't work." How can you expect to get your arm to work without giving more detailed explaination of the problem.

For the last time, more details yield better technical support.

Afterthough...

Why would DMA effect these games? Where did that come from? The fact that sir (not wanting to put any gender restrictions) had it enabled leads me to believe that the system will suppor this, ergo it is a newer system. I know that many many many sites recommend turning this on! They do so because it makes seemingly slow machines a little faster (I think this is an upgrade issue where many people were upgrading and were unaware of this enhancement) I have never had to enable it and, consequently, never had to disable it to make something work (exept I have seen that for making backup copies of an individuals original disk this feature might need to be off to allow for that back up) This of course stems from the source. I don't use software that is so old that might have issue with a transfer speed increase.

Well, there you have it, my after thought.

Good luck!

Here is a longshot on Diablo II, do you still have the play cd? Diablo II requires, among other games, that you have an original cd that you insert into the cdrom to verify that you actually own the game. There are fixes to this of course. My suspicion is that you borrowed the game from your sister and you are installing it. After you have installed it, you either remove the disk or you gave it back to your sister. You seem so convinced that the game's work on your sisters computer, well if they are hers you know that they do work. It is up to you if you choose to do this... Am I far off with this one? If I am, sorry. You indicated that you were not very familiar with computers and this is a common mistake by beginers. If this is true, or if you can get it installed and you don't want the annoyance of having to install a cd everytime you want to play a different game (keep in mind the more you handle a cd, the higher the likelyhood that you could drop it or scratch it). If you go to www.gamecopyworld.com, you can download a patch that will remove the insert CD requirement.

Now, let's see, what else could be wrong? Have you updated all your drivers? DirectX in particular? If you are outdated on some of your drivers this can cause you problems. Do you have enough hard drive space? Can your sister post a message here for you and assist us in trouble shooting this issue for you?

Just some thoughts.

Bashton
