Can't install IE 6!

I've tried and tried. Tried from the MS download page. Tried from a disk I got from my ISP. Every time, it comes back "certain elements could not be installed."
The current version is IE 5.5 as bundled with Win ME. Can't install service pack 2 as it is no longer available. I thought maybe I'd have to install that first, then do the IE 6 install.
I use Opera as my normal browser, and only use IE to view one favorite page that Opera refuses to display correctly. However, IE is bundled into my system, and IS vulnerable.

And before anybody wastes time saying it: you cannot repair or remove IE from the Control Panel in WinME. I tried running this, and the "Repair Internet Explorer" check box is grayed out.

Well, it's all moot now, as I formatted the hard drive and did a clean install. Installed IE 6 with no problem. IE 5.5 had been damaged from installing another program which tried to install IE 5.01 on the machine.
