I've been trying to laod AOL 9.0 and have tried to downlaod and also used a Disc. When downloading I get a Kernel32.dll errort message, and when using a Disc, it installs all the way, and updates, loads and then goes blank!! Any ideas form anyone would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Richie

Have you called AOL Tech support, they have helped me with a lot of my AOL needs. I havn't ever had a problem when installing AOL 9.0, so I'm sorry I can't help you :(

Make sure you remove any copy of AOL 9.0 before trying to install it again.
You have a P4 so I assume you have more than 128MB of RAM. AOL 9.0 requires a lot more memory than older versions of AOL.
The windows install programs have poor error handling and do not recover gracefully from communications or CD-Rom read errors. It is best to copy the whole install folder from the CD to a temporary folder on a disk drive if possible. Then do the install from this temporary folder. And they really mean it when they tell you to end all other application programs, such as Anti-Virus and Firewall programs.

Thanks everyone, but nothing worked. I tried , of course, AOL Live help, but they had no idea. I transfered the CD to a Jump Drive and stopped all Programs, but to no avail. I'vve researched iy more, and see that many people have a Windows ME problem with AOL 9.0. I have xp on my Laptop, and will end up buying a new Desktop just to by pass the problems.
Thanks again,
Richie

Hey bro........Let me ask you something here??
Why are you so dead set on aol-9??From AOLs own troubleshooting boards (not aol people just volunteers) from what I have seen there 2 things come up with WinME.
1) About 1/3 of all computer problems posted on their own boards are about AOL-9.
2) Every O/s reports some problems with AOL-9 (it was designed for XP) but WinME reports the most problems by FAR !!!!!!!!
3)Will not even install with less than 256MB RAM and that is an absolute minimum.
4)AOL-9 is a super HOG -- Better make sure you kill all needless background programs and be damn sure your virus & spyware/adware free before an install attempt. All earlier versions of AOL are on hidden files on every free CD (available almost everywhere)
I would recommend you try ver 8.Also beware of AOLs spyware program as it is reported (on their own boards) as causing a wide variety of system corruptions and problems. Good Luck
