Hi Everyone,
Gates made his billions, now he should hire someone who knows something about computers.
I see people saying this os is junk, BUT, xp is far superior, believe me, it's the same old junk with a new name. Today, I have been trying to get out of the safe mode, I have not succeced, I have just reloaded the os, with the same result. I would appreciate your help in getting out of the safe mode. My other xp computer is worse, it must have swollowed a turtle, because it moves as fast a turtle.
Could you please help me get out of this safe mode, as the screen is blown up and the edges are off the screen,
I thank you for your help and to read this (sic) praise to microjunk,
frank

What happens when you reboot the computer? Does it automatically go to the Safe Mode screen? Have you run a Scan Disk?

Hello Jennifer SUMN,
All reboots move into the safe mode, this is why I tried reloading the os. I guess it is called one of the many quirks of m$ software.
What is a joke when I try to get into the safe mode, it won't transfer into that mode, now that I don't want the safe mode, I can't get out of it.
Thank you for your response, hopefully you can offer an idea as how I can get into the normal mode,
frank

Just to confirm, are you getting the prompt that you are actually running in Safe Mode, or is the display the only thing that's odd? Have you installed the proper video drivers?

frank breen,
"What is a joke when I try to get into the safe mode, it won't transfer into that mode, now that I don't want the safe mode, I can't get out of it."
Just a question frank, or possibly more. From that paragraph, am I to understand that at one time, you were trying to boot into 'Safe Mode'. If so, what things did you do, to try to accomplish that?
"All reboots move into the safe mode, this is why I tried reloading the os."
So everyone is clear, it starts in 'Safe Mode' (safe mode displayed, in all corners of the screen), with no prompting from computer, as to choose it (safe mode), or normal, ect.
You said, "I tried reloading the os.", and "I have just reloaded the os, with the same result."
Explain "reloaded", please. How it was done, and the type (upgrade, OEM, retail, ect.) Also after, and I guess before the reload, did you reinstall the 'video', 'motherboard', ect. drivers? Especially, after a reload, those would be needed. Any error messages, or prompts, for action on you part, from the computer?
Well, that's surely more than a question. Do have more, but, that's a start.

Hi CO,
The screen prompt wanted to know what course of action I wanted to take, none of my doings, I arrowed to normal and the safe mode popped up. I was not looking to make any move other than to boot up to the blue rather than the gray screen. I am still in safe mode and don't know how to punch out of it. I turned on the machine, the black screen came up with the normal or safe mode choices, after pointing to normal, the safe mode showed up. I am not surprised as to what other weird things happen with these os's, from 95 to xp, bugs pop up, if it were not for the hackers, we would not know they existed. In Washington Gates had informed congress how secure xp was, some high school kid found a flaw the next day, again, I am not surprised, but did get a laugh and would think after being made to look stupid, he would really try to perfect his products,
thanks for your input,
frank

Hi CO,
the os is a full retail, no error messages, and no warning other than the screen giving me choices, as I said these quirks do not surprise me and I take them in stride. What is amazing, I have shut off the computer three times and it boots into the safe mode, again not my doing. I see many at this website that cannot get into the safe mode, I can't get out of it, throw me a life saver,
frank

frank,
;-)
^^^ For your comments, about Gates.Life saver one; As said by myself, and Jennifer. Re/install the 'video' drivers.
Oh, just wondering about something you wrote. You said, that you arrowed to Normal, did you also press 'Enter', after doing so?
Back to the question, did you re/install 'all' the needed drivers, for the video, motherboard, ect, after the OS was installed.
Also, how did you perform the install. What actions, did you take? As to an order/description, of how you did it, thanks.

Hello again CO,
The os was reloaded and took about 30 minutes, what I can't understand, why after the loading of the wme that it went back to the safe mode. I am on the computer that has the xpos, I went to trend housecall scan and it found 7 infected files. I assume that was the cause of my computer slowing down, though it is a celeron chip and not as fast as the pentium. I like my old computer it has an athlon chip and is faster than my celeron though supposedly half the speed of the celeron. I will reload the video drivers for my ati card, I will checkout their website which is easier than finding the cd that came with board.Thank you and Jennifer for your help, hopefully the drivers will solve my problem,
thanks again,
frank

Hello Jennifer and CO,
you guys were right, I reloaded the ati drivers and the setup is normal again. Another ms mystery solved by the tech team,
thank you again for your help, blood pressure getting back to normal also,
frank

Frank,
You're welcome, and hope all is well. Having the updated drivers, for the motherboard, video, modem, sound, ect., on removable media, does come in handy at these times. Complete backups, is even better, but not always practicable (possible).
Good Luck,
CrazyOne
