Hello people,
I told my friend that my aol is acting wierd, it won't seem to connect. He worked on it and said he erased alot of spyware/adware. (unfortunely aol is still not fixed)
Anyways the next day when I turned on my computer
Windows ME won't load up the start up (desktop)screen it just stays in the Windows ME screen...
I am a intermediate PC user and from what I know I still can't get into windows.
What I did was when it's in the Windows ME screen I pressed esc
and it displayed setup is updating your configuration files and it stays there forever...
it will not load into windows even after 30 minutes.
So I tried a ME bootdisk but it reads: non system disk
I don't understand why, because I made that disk from my computer.
Then I tried my recovery CD, and I went into restoring previous setting
and the computer ran for awhile and when it reached 34% it displayed
no image file found and I was forced to exit.
I didn't want to select restore to factory settings because it will
erase all my files.
So with these 2 options there was nothing else I can do.
Then I tried going into safe mode (F8), but it still wont go in.
I pressed esc and it still displays setup is updating your configuration files.
I kept letting it run, but it still won't load into windows. If anyone can offer some suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you everyone so much!

When you were able to get into windows did windows make you install all the drivers for the hardware?

Selecting safemode I still wasn't able to get into windows. It still displays setup is updating your configuration files.
