Lately I have not been able to delete individual email messages. When I first restart my computer it will let me delete 3 or 4 messages only. I can open messages but not delete them. Can anyone tell why this is happening and how to fix this?
Thanks.

Also, run ScanDisk utility and check the disk drive in Standard mode first. Then make a full pass (hours?) in Through mode looking for disk drive errors. There could be a hardware reason for the problem.

Your using Outlook Express, so as I don't use that program, here is a few ideas to chase down that more than likely will resolve your problems. The biggest fault with OE is that its a client subset program. That means it not very robust as its big brother Outlook is. So with that you must maintain it much more regularly.
Check the Deleted Items folder, and if there are files in it, manually select and delete them all.
Do the same with the Sent Items Folder, and delete all the messages there as well.
Export some of you older incoming messages to a new file in another part of your hard drive (Mail\Archives always works well for that).
Work to reducing the size of the Mail files the program is using. Seem to rememenber there being a max limit on the size of the email file in OE, that wasnt very large like 64 Mb or so.
Keep in mind that mail files get very big very quickly with todays media and audio files, not to mention pictures and other attachments. The smaller the mail files the faster and more stable they run.
This part my memory fails me on, but check in Control Panel, Mail, and see if there is any way to compact the mail file. This feature might be in OE itself in Options am not sure. If you have never done this don't be surprised if it takes an hour or so to complete.
Let us know how you made out ! ! ! !
