Hi-I would really appreciate any help!!
When I run my Defrag, it will go to 10%, then come up w/ an error messages saying I need to run Scandisk due to errors. So I run Scan disk, then try to Defrag again, and I get the same message. My computer is so slow, ( I hv a phone line) but it takes sometimes 8 attempts to get on the internet and to download 1 song can take 3-4 HOURS!!

Also, I got a CD burner a few monthes ago and accidentally uninstalled my "Easy CD Creator" reccently and every time I try to re-install, it says the program already exists, I need to uninstall it-but I can't find it anywhere. Any suggestions?

First problem: run defrag from safemode.

Second problem: Search your hdd for cd creator folders and files. Delete them. Back up your registry. Search your registry for cd creator and remove entries. Restart. It should let you install.

To run scandisk & defrag efficiently, you need to stop all the background applications/programs from running.

Use Ctrl+Alt+Delete to whittle it down to systray & explorer.Make sure your screensavers and anti virus programs are disabled.

I might add to the above, the utility Regcleaner:
http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/shtml/regcleaner.shtml

It will offer you the opportunity to delete old registry entries etc.
Be sure that you use it with caution and create a backup of your registry as in this example:

Hi Stephanie,

after you've carried out the above suggestions go to :- www.pcpitstop.com

There they will carry out numerous tests on your system and internet connection.
They will give suggestions on what to do to get better performance and even have "autofixes" that they can do remotely to improve performance.
