Can't create startup disk

Why cant i create a startup disk? the moment i press "create disk" it displays an error message: path not found. i'm getting paranoid cause i really need this disk (who doesn't. please help me

Do you have a disk in? Is the disk empty?
If so try reformatting the disk your useing.

Well the thing is when i bought the comp and installed ME the first thing i treid is to make a bootdisk and it didn't work. Then a friend gave me one so at least i have one. It's more a question of having an OS that has no major problems, i would just want to be able to fix the prob so i can learn new stuff. I'm an ultimate beginner and i notice that computers can give a LOT of probs. I appreciate the help; great site

I had the same problem, tryed a couple of different floppies, but to no avail, I just skipped the step since I have startup disks from Dell, but I haven't yet gotten the system to boot back up.
