I tried to create a boot disk as usual from the add/remove program .. But, I was surprised that I couldn't ??? It was saying "The file aspi2dos.sys was not found" ?? And the 'Copy Files From' path was "C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\INSTALL" .. is this the correct path to create a startup disk from ??? Please help ..

Hi Wiz, I have the exact same thing happen when I try to create a Boot Disk ? In fact I posted in this forum a long time ago and recieved the same advise as you (going to bootdisk.com) I never tried that because when i frist recieved my PC I was able to create one , I also created another one after I installed a graphics card. However as I stated ,now when I try that option I get the same message you recieve ? If you ever find a fix ,or what causes this to happen let me know, Iam curious as to the reason for this ! Good Luck,Nick
look in your C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\EBD and aspi2dos.sys should be located in this folder.if not, find it using GOOGLE and install it there. Actually it may be there and be corrupt also.

Wiz,
What have you been doing to your machine? Your previous post says your cd-rom is not detected. Does it work now?

hello there was a virus a while back that caused the problem with m.e and not being able to create a boot disk.fjb,s idea should fix this.
The reason it cannot create the disk is because the file required to create an ASPI layer for DOS on bootup with the diskette is missing or corrupt on the hard drive, so copy a known good version from the Windows CD or extract one from the original file path you mentioned to start with, this is where Windows keeps its original install files.
