I can't access paypal from my home machine for some reason. Same problems as the message at:
http://www.computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/42942.html
In Internet Explorer when trying to get to only some sites (www.paypal.com is one for example) it says:
"Page cannot be displayed".
If I'm using Netscape it says:
"The connection was refused when attempting to contact http://www.paypal.com"
I have a Linksys Router I go through and I'm using ZoneAlarm Pro. I thought it might be the firewall but it isn't because when I turn it off, it still gives me an error. When I bring my laptop from home, it will work so the Router can't be the issue. It's gotta be this box. Can't figure out what else to try and i don't want to reimage the whole thing. Any ideas would be great.

One possible idea, look for a file in the C:\Windows folder by the name of HOSTS (there should be a HOSTS.SAM file also). If HOSTS file exists, you have setup web site blocking, so open the file with Notepad/Wordpad and search for a paypal.com entry. Any/all sites listed in the HOSTS file will give the standared page can not be displayed error.

Paypal won't let you in if your using upper case letters-when typing in your email and password. And they don't tell you why.

JackG wins the Prize!!! I got rid of that Hosts file (copied it elsewhere and now i can get to the site) I think some spy-blocking software put that file there in the first place. Doesn't look like any other sites are having problems so if they are, i'll copy the file back. Thanks!

I am having the same problem. I only have a host.sam file in Windows. I do however have a Dllhost.exe in windows\system directory. I am running win 98 1st ed., and IE 5.5.
I did have problems a few weeks ago getting into any secured sites and had to reinstall rsabase.dll, rsaenh.dll, schannel.dll, and advapi32.dll. Afterwards everything was ok and the a few days ago, I could not get into paypal. I can get into other secured sites ok... help...
