I have the same problem but with a CD burner. For Wawadave: I am running ME (unfortunately) on an athlon 1.1GHz processor. I have two Hard Drives (C and D) an A drive (duh) and a DVD-ROM drive as well, so the drive I can't access is called "F" but I still have essentially the same problem. You wanted to know what burner program I used - Nero Burning Rom.
The burner that I have tried to install is supposed to be a simple plug-and-play device, but after installing it the way I was supposed to (including altering the BIOS settings) I just can't access any disk in the drive.
The main error message is "insert disk in drive F" which is useless.
but when I tried scanning the drive using Norton, it came up with the message "Cannot read from drive F - it is locked by a disk utility. try again when the disk is not locked."

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S LOCKING IT!

Hope someone out there can help me.

Try uninstalling Norton and seeing if the problem doesn't clear itself up.

Norton can lock your disk for use with it's disk utilities. If norton is broken, it could be causing your issue.

I believe it is system doctor that does the locking if you just want to uninstall a piece of norton.

I am having the same problem except mine is on Windows 98 and i don't have a CD burner program. The CD-ROM drive is one we bought to upgrade the stock one. I tryed uninstalling Norton like has been suggested however i got the message "The log file 'C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\nav95.isu' is not valid or the data has been corrupted. Unistall will not continue." Any suggestions on what to do now?
