My Canon BJC-80 printer shows an error light and beeps when I try to print. The error message says I am not connected. I have going thru all the self-help printing guides, have checked and rechecked all connections, have checked that the printer is the default and that I have the correct port. Does anyone know why I can't print. It just happened all of a sudden and has been working fine for 3 years.

thanks, kathy

Help, I want to avoid a problem.
What is the correct way to disconnect your printer, so that your machine doesn't go looking for it and flash an error message?
I think I know what to try but if there is a professional way to do it I would prefer to do that, as I plan to give the tower unit to a friend and don't to leave any error messages for her to contend with.
Thanks so much Constance
