cannot uninstall Windows ME. disc drives will not read. any ideas???

What do you mean "uninstall"? If you wanna get rid of it, format the HDD.

By "disc drives" do you mean Hard drive? Or CD Drive? Is the CD viewable when you have ME booted? Are you sure you have a bootable XP OS CD and that you've set the CD drive as a bootable device?

More details would help immensity.
