Laptop Prostar 8593, OS Windows ME. I cannot play DVD's with my laptop any more (have no problem with CD's). I got the message "WinDVD has caused un error in unknown. Windvd will now close." I tried to read it with other DVD softwares - no luck. In addition, I cannot play video files embeded in the internet browser IE6. When I try my computer freezes, sometimes I got the message "Unknown has caused un error in unknown. Unknown will now close." I thought it is virus, but NAV antivirus did not detect any. I tried with no luck to detect trojans. Finaly, I reformated the drive, but still have the same problem. Can anyone help me?

1)Try System Restore 2)Uninstall WinDVD and try accessing DVD.

Yes I tried the system restore. It helped me a few times (I had that problem before), but last time I could not restore the system to the prior date. So I reformated the C: drive, and installed programs again. Ever since I am having the problem. I tried to unistall WinDVD, and installed two other applications, but was unable to read DVD. How do I figure out driver conflicts?
