Cannot open My Computer

CPU/Ram: 500 megs
Comment:
I cannot open My Computer or the Control Panel. I recieve a error message saying... Explorer has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL
explorer will now Close. Is there a way i can fix this?

when did it start, any new hardware or software? do oyu have a current restore point?

It started after i downloaded Artisan DVD player and my most recent restore point is June 13th

try unplugging the dvdrom and booting in safe.
