Hi there, I have a very fustrating problem. I have WindowsME installed - I have reinstalled many times - the same problem (wont open installation .exe files) comes up almost everytime i try to install - even though I have and keep reformatting the computer and reinstalling new copys of WindowsME. How is this possible? Error messages include while opening/installing - File Size Error - Even though the error is incorrect Self Extraction Corrupt - For installing winzip and many others this came up - for an extremly popular program like winzip I dont exactly agree with the error here lol Unknown has caused an error in Unknown - its unknown to me as it is unknown what to do with it! any help with these will be very much appreciated - thank you

Sounds like you have a virus. I believe the Magistr virus kept you from launching executables but I'm not 100% sure.

have you scanned for viruses try housecall.antivirus.com for a free online scan. from: http://computing.net/windowsme/wwwboard/forum/23158.html Download exefix08.com from here and run it. Thanks very much for your replies ww : I went on to the website as described - it turns out I have over 250 infected files of the high in damage PE SPACES virus. Luckly I was able to clean them. The virus starts off in the windows\system directory and spreads from file to file.
