Howard
I downloaded the IE 6.0 service pack upgrade from the Microsoft website. It said that the download was sucessful. However, when I check, it says that I still have IE 5.5. I tried this several times, I even ordered the disc and used it, same thing. MY computer is clear and clean, large RAM size. No firewall,I do have Norton Antivirus. What can I do? Thank you............

Try getting IE6 first, intall it and than run the IE6 Service pack upgrade
u cant install the upgrade untill you actualy install IE6 Itself.
Hope that helps

Thanks.

Download the update from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms04-013.mspx
If showing: Uninstall kb87009 in Add/Remove programs.
Close IE (important) and reinstall using the downloaded update.

Where can I download just IE 6.0, no service pack. Fre with no bull.
I have ME with dial up. In the add/remove program, it says I have, Q891781 Internet ExplorerThankyou

Howard (aka Brooklynboy),
You said you order the disk and used it. What disk is that? You also said you downloaded it. May I ask for a link to this page, thanks. (just copy and paste the address in your response/follow up)
What was the name of the file that downloaded? (ie6setup.exe maybe) If it is ie6setup.exe, you would have to run it (double-click it) to start the install. That's while your connected to the internet.
Back to this CD you ordered. Explain about that in detail. Is it from MS, and does it contain the IE6 browser setup files? yes-no Look on the CD for ie6setup.exe If you find it, tell what other files are in that same folder it's in, ok.
Dial-Up :-) You could do a custom install, and just install the basics first. Then add more later if connections are a problem for you. Just an idea.
But, if you have it on the CD. There would be no need to download it all.

I downloaded IE 6.0 from planet mirror. It is now on my desk top. When I try to open it up it says your current security/proxy settings will not allow the download. I checked, and they are on the default setting. Now what? Thanks Howard
