Hi guys! I have 1 GHz P3 with 128 Ram and a 30 GB HDD. Has a 32x16x8 LG rewritable drive and 3.5 floppy. Runs Windows ME. ME has become very unstable and I want to format the C: Drive and reinstall but when I insert the start up disk and restart, the A: reads the disk but the computer does not goto DOS. It boots onto to windows. I cannot format once I'm in windows from prompt. Need help.

make your boot order floppy, hard drive, then cdrom. looks like you are not even reading the floppy, otherwise, you would get the a: prompt. Al

to do above you will need to set boot order in bios

why not just put in the CD and run setup again. likewise, if you have a W98 floppy with deltree on it, you can deltree c:\windows and it will clean up just the windows directory. then reinstall. when booting up, hit f8. go to prompt. A: fdisk. do a dir of *.sys and *.com in windows. w3.1 - deleting sys.com usually wiped the system. and as always, set bios to boot from floppy first.
