Hi, I had a problem with Win9x/WinME.On Windows 2000 I can find computer by its ip address but I cannot do it on Win9x/WinME...Why is that so..Thks
The dos command set is quite different in NT and Windows 2000 than it is on 98/ME so can I ask how you're trying to locate the pc, and maybe I can point you in the right direction?
I assume you're referring to a LAN but the principle is the same on the internet.
Type IPCONFIG /ALL (note the space between IPCONFIG and the /ALL) in a dos prompt. That will tell you your IP address.

I cannot find computer using ip address in the search computer command at the my network places. But if I use Windows2000, I am able to find the computer showing the computer icon and ip address
Then you should be able to locate it by it's "computer name", or fully qualified domain name (FQDN) which will be unique to that pc on the network. Try that method first.
