Comment: I'm currently trying to get my brother's Windows ME machine to run correctly after a serious trojan attack. When the attack happened, the computer automatically switched itself to SAFE mode on the next startup (which is when I received the phone call to help), and even though everything now appears normal again, I cannot get the screen out of 256 colour / 640x480 mode. Try as I might to switch to 16bit / 1024x768, which worked perfectly before the attack, the settings refuse to take hold. What can I do to force them, please? Many thanks indeed.

Reply: (edit)Uninstall video drivers from the Add/Remove Programs and reinstall the drivers program after you reboot the computer.Good luck.

Reply: (edit)Thanks, Petit Jean. After a search, we can't however find the original OE disk with the drivers on, and can't find them on the web to download either! Is there any other way to force the change, perhaps a configuration file that can be edited in a text editor, or something in the Registry? Cheers!
