Hi all.
I have a small problem. A friend sent me an email with an attachment WMV file. When I try to open it I get the sound but no picture, and by the sounds on the file it has/needs to be viewed also.
I have on my PC Windows Media Player version 7.00.00.1440 at present. I have not updated to the latest as I have not had the need to thus far and have also resisted it as I am advised there are a number of problems associated with it.

Ask what version your friend has or what program he uses to view the video. You are probably missing codecs for the video. These are used to compress/decompress the video files to make them smaller. You can try DivX.
Hope that helps.
Kevin.

Believe it or not the OLD OLD Media player is still there somewhere. Try it out. Look for mplayer2.exe in your files and then open it and open your file from within. Or right click on the file and select open with windows media player (the one with the old clapper board? icon). I have found it opens lots of programs that the latest version has trouble with.

Hi Guys.
Tried your suggestions, still no joy. I may just have to install the latest version of Win Media player.
