Some burning programs are linked to a specific brand name on the burner side and won't work otherwise. It may also be you have a now defective drive if the drive used to work fine with the burning program. The drive can still be fine for reading a cdrom but bad for burning a cdr.Is this a SCSI drive? If so make sure the chain is terminated and that the numbering is right.Good luck.

Petit Jean, Thank you for responding, but i should have told that i am a pc idiot, lol, do not know much what exactly is a SCSI drive? The cdr drive came with the pc already in tower. It was working fine and one day i went to burn and didn't work! I do notice that a letter is not assigned to the drive, could that be the issue? and if so, would you know what drive letter to use? thank you for your time. crazy....

You could try that drive in another machine to verify, but.....
