Just wondering if anyone could tell me why my computer all the sudden stopped allowing me to access the internet, yet the cable modem is in perfect working order....I have uninstalled and re-installed the ethernet card several times and it just will not seem to connect to ANY sites nor does it seem to have any internet capability at all now...

Nothing to go on as to why it stopped. You did not even indicate if the send/receive leds on the modem indicate something is being sent, or if the LED on the back of the Ethernet card indicates data transfer to/from the system.
Can you do a PING command to a site by IP address and then by URL and get a response from either one. Or even Ping the modem? For example:
PING 216.109.112.135
PING yahoo.com
PING 192.168.100.1
Have you ran a full scan with your anti-virus program? Have you scanned for Spyware/Adware and Browser Hijackers? Is your network TCP/IP still set for default settings or has a browser hijacker pointed your DSN server address to an IP address that is no longer valid?
If you switch to a Dial-Up, can you connect.

fortwynt, SWAG, firewall, security settings too high? Netzero offers a free dialup with time limited access, can you get that to work and omit the cable? That'll tell you if it's you or them. HTH. Ed in Texas.
