I have Cable internet access from Comcast and am using my own modem manufactured by 3Com. I have an issue with losing the internet connection on my computer at particular times without warning. Basically one second I am downloading a file, and at another I completely lose the connection. I try restarting the computer multiple times, but rarely have any success, therefore, am forced to disconnect all the connections and this usually solves the problem. This is really a pain though...Does anyone else experience the same issue?

How is your cable modem connected to pc?
Does it use usb?
If you are using a regular connection and ethernet card, try moving the card to another slot.Make sure it is secure.

has this problem occurred ever since you installed the cable connection? Or did you install/change something and then it started to fail?

You should have a seperate line for your cable connection to your computer. If you tapped into the exsisting one that's for your TV, that kills the signal. If you can't avoid that then make sure the first split in the line is for your computer and should be outside right after the ground block. Split it there and run a direct line to your modem and make sure you use the proper cable also.
