lets juts say....i goofed up. I need lots of help with my computer .... and i think that you would be able to help me (if you want). first of all i formatted my hardrive with nothing more of a system disk than the command file "command.com". So i start it up and i need to get my D:\ drive up to install Windows 2000 Pro but the 2000 Pro i have is umst an upgrade sp first i must install Windows 98 and upgrade form there. After a while i got my CD-ROM working (with help) and i installeed windows 98. So now i have everything up and i am in windows 98 so i am ready to install win 2000 pro. First off it asks me if i would like to have NTFS installed on my hardrive i figured wwhat the heck it made it sound good so i did. Well i encountered problems while installed win 2000 so i figured screw it i will just installl Windows ME so i take out the me disk ... but before that i try and fix my problem...under control panel/system there are two IDE hardisk controllers (something like that ) and they both have errors next to them. So i disable one and keep the other one open and reboot. Nothin happened .. so next i disabled (or removed) the other one and kept the opposite one .. and rebooted...it seems now that my C:\ drive it gone ! I dont know what to do .. i boot off my floppy and i have a CD ROM but there is no C:\ drive and i am not sure if it is the NTFS or the IDE hardisk controller ... I dont think NTFS was ever installed and have tried different files to see if it was there and all programs said it wasnt. -jon- id43rd1@mindspring.com

I would use partition magic to see if what happend to the c-partition. I would also format it using partition magic, because then you are sure that you format the correct partition. The ide-problem is probably because you didn't (or forgot to) install the ide-drivers. Johan
