bulit a new pc and having problems

well ive been building pc's for years from scratch and always had my problems but this 1 i just cant figure out. in my pc i have

3.2 ghz intel p4
200 gb seagate ata 100 hardrive
asus p4c800-e deluxe socket 478
2 ghz of ram
256 nvidia xfx 5700 le video card
liquid cooling

see my comp is well equiped but the problems i am having are when i load up my system right after the bios screen clears i get a msg that no device is fouind and bios is not installed...ive check many posts and tried everything from changin it to raid to ide and only disabling the promise driver in bios gets rid of it but still doesnt clear it up...the next problem is once all that is done i partioned my hardrive with the seagate software cuz the fdisk utiliy cant support a 200 gb hardrive and then i goto instal windows...windows me installs but then once it says it has to restart wen it gets to the configuring system files the computer reboots and never finishes setiin up windows...ive also tried to instal windows 98 and xp and i have no luck with those either...i have no idea wat is wrong i tried moving cables and makin sure everything was alright ive called seagate asus every1 i culd and i cant find the problem anewhere..can ane1 help?

Are you using the SATA drive or the normal PATA drive ?

With your ram did you mean 2 GIG instead of ghz ??

Have your cleared the CMOS ??

IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT

i'd cut the ram back to 512, until xp is installed.
2 gig is way too much.
one can 'suffocate'' a system with too much memory.

I'm told there are problems with more than 512mb ram with ME.

Yes, for Windows 98, 98SE and ME; more than 512 megabytes of Ram is not recommended.

The 512MB (actually 640MB) memory size limit of Windows ME is easy to fix. Just two additions to the SYSTEM.INI file and you can have all the memory you want in the system as Windows ME will only try to use 1GB of it.
