ME with IE6. Ran fine. During "Optimize" disk using Norton Utilities, the process stalled about 60% through disk. Waited a while and no progress. Stopped Optimize and closed program. IE6 (DSL connection) was fine. Next day booted fine but kept getting "page not found" error no access to internet. ISP tested DSL modem and connection. Fine. Works fine with my backup laptop, too. Same cable. Did repair of IE6, but no change. Network set up all checked out ok. Able to ping NIC which checks out ok. Hardware checks out ok. Loaded NetNav 6.2 with same problem as IE6. No joy. Could there be corrupted OpSys files due to aborted Optimize? How to determine prob? How to fix? Have spent hours with tech support at Dell, Qwest, etc. No joy. No help. They tell me to do a complete reinstall. How about a "dirty install" to repair corrupted/damamged files? Help!

Least drastic stuff first before reinstall!

Try scanregw /restore.

If that doesn't work, try System Restore.
