I've been having a problem with my browser for a while that seems to be getting worse and occurring more frequently lately. First of all, my browser is I.E. version 6.0.2800.1106IS. Every now and then whenever I do something to get my browser to perform an action such as loading it, opening up a new window, clicking on a link, etc., it insists on crashing and closing on me. It does that every now and then while I'm in the middle of surfing and I lose where I was at and have to load it up again, which sometimes is a problem too. It's gotten too frustrating and unbearable now and I don't know what to do and what could be causing it. I'm hoping someone might be able to help. I swear, computers can be such a pain and stress inducing machines.

Run this:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html#cwshredder

Read this (two pages):

http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/index1.php

After you have fixed IE's problems. Try Mozilla and/or Firebird browsers (I recommend the installer version of Firebird, top of the list here: http://seb.mozdev.org/firebird/
). Spybot has never found any spyware/malware on my system since I started using Mozilla. IE is only allowed to go to Windows Update on my system.

I use no third party tools, like Spywareblaster, Spywareguard, etc., etc. to attempt to secure IE's many security shortcomings.

Hey, thanks for the help. I checked out those web pages you recommended. I already had spybot search and destroy installed on my computer. I also downloaded and tried out the other program(cwshredder). That was an informative page there. However, the cwshredder didn't find any known variant of that cw trojan and I've still had this browser crash problem after running those programs. So that didn't solve my problem unfortunately. I have installed the Mozilla Firebird browser though. It automatically imported my I.E. bookmarks, which was nice. I might transition myself to this browser eventually. See how things work out. So anyway, I still don't know what is the source of my browser crashing. Hopefully I get that worked out. Thanks for the help though.

Are you saying AdAware identified Spybot Search and Destroy as spyware or adware?

If so, this is a completely and utterly false identification.

It is possible that something called Spybot was identified on your system, I know of a trojan with "spybot" included in its' name, but it is completely unrelated to Spybot S&D and should not be confused with it.
